Beginner Class: 6-9pm Monday 13th April 2009
Intermediate Class: 6-9pm Tuesday 14th April 2009
Advanced Class: 6-9pm Wednesday 15th April 2009
Held at: Elim Pentecostal Church, First Floor, 47 Lawrence Street, YORK, YO10 7BU
Cost: £30 for one evening, £50 for two evenings, £70 for all three evenings
At the end of the ‘Beginner’ session, you will be able to:

Tune your guitar by ear.

Hold and play your guitar with correct posture and technique, enabling optimum efficiency and sound generation.

Play all major and minor chords in the open position.
-
Perform most simple chord progressions and songs.
At the end of the ‘Intermediate’ session, you will be able to:

Determine which chords are in which keys.
-
Play all major 7th, minor 7th, and dominant 7th chords in the open position.

Play major or minor chords anywhere on the fingerboard using barre chord shapes.

Play the minor pentatonic and blues scales in any key.

Improvise a solo in any key.
At the end of the ‘Advanced’ session, you will be able to:

Apply the CAGED system to your playing, when using both chords and scales.

Extend all known chord shapes to major/minor/dominant 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th chords.

Play any major or minor arpeggio.
-
Play the major scale or harmonic minor scale in any key.
-
Use and apply all the above knowledge in order to improvise a solo which follows the chord changes in detail.

Perform a ‘ii V I’ progression in any key (major or minor), and improvise a solo over the same.

Perform any chord progression using any of the chord types covered during the session.

Understand, play and apply all modes of the major scale and their chord progressions.

Read basic music notation.
ALL SESSIONS WILL INCORPORATE ELEMENTS BOTH MUSIC THEORY AND A LIVE PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP.
